Case #5
Hawcreek Baptist Cemetery
October 15th, 2005

Conclusion of Investigation of Hawcreek Baptist Cemetery on 10-15-2005

This is a large cemetery located on church property just north of Hope Indiana. While it is currently used for new burials it also contains older sections from the mid 1800’s. It was a clear night with temperatures in the mid-40’s and almost a full moon.

Robert, Greg, and Shanon were the investigators present. Equipment used was night vision video, digital voice recorder, EMF detector, digital camera, and thanks to good lighting around the church some regular video. The cemetery had an overall peaceful feel to it and the team had no phenomena occur.

Findings:  One unusual photo of a set of graves marked off with metal fencing. Just to the right and outside of the fence area you can see what appears to be a “ phantom headstone”. You can see through the marker and see the church behind it. If I were using a camera with film I would swear it was a double exposure but this picture was taken with a digital camera. The team is unable to explain it. With the night vision camera we saw a shadow on a headstone about twenty minutes in the investigation the shadow was about twenty five feet away moving left to right, I first thought it was Greg but after further investigation Greg was no where close to the area. Hoosier Paranormal Research would list the spirits in this cemetery as being somewhat active.

Debunked Findings: Just for the fun of it I snapped a couple of pictures of a lighted cross on top of a headstone. When I downloaded the pictures the cross was indistinguishable and it appeared that we captured an apparition or vortex. This shows the importance of being aware of your surroundings during picture taking.

This picture was taken by Shanon at Hawcreek Baptist graveyard. In the upper right hand corner you can see a double exposure of a tombstone. I don't think a digital camera can double expose.
