I moved from Ohio to Indiana in
June 1996. To a house in Muncie, It had a ghost, most likely the widow
of the contractor who built the house for their retirement
home. I moved out of the house in May 2002, but not because
of the ghost.
Her name is Myra. She was in her late 80s when she passed
on. Here are some of the things that she did:
1. Showed me where extra house keys were hidden by pulling
out a hidden drawer underneath a bottom shelf in the pantry.
This was on a day when I was preparing to leave for a conference in
Wyoming and needed to get an extra key made so that I could leave it
for the cat sitter. I worked late that evening and knew that
I needed to go to Meijer's to have the key made, due to the late
hour. I went to the pantry to get cat food to leave on the
kitchen counter for the cat sitter. I saw, for the first
time, the hidden drawer. It was the size of a box of kitchen
matches and was on homemade tracks that extended under the shelf, all
the way back to the wall. It was pulled out enough that I
could see inside and could see keys.
2. Hearing baseball games and also organ music, as if a radio
was on. Neighbors told me that Myra loved baseball games.
3. Turning on a radio on mornings when I overslept and did
not hear the alarm clock
4. Finding an earring back that was lost in the living room
and was found on the counter in a bathroom later that day--AFTER I had
cleaned the bathroom.
5. Myra would go to bed a few minutes after I went to
bed. The other side of the bed would go down as if a person
had gotten into the bed. This was very difficult for
me. I finally gave up the bedroom and slept on a sofa in the
living room.
6. When I was sleeping in the bed I found that every morning
the mattress would be pushed off the box springs by an inch or
two. I would push the mattress back onto the box
springs. One morning I wondered if Myra might be doing this
to the mattress. That evening when I came home from work and
went into the bedroom I found the mattress had been moved so that it
was hanging about a foot off the box springs. I assumed that
this was Myra's answer--yes, it's me!
7. Once when I was ill with the flu and was lying on the
sofa, on my side curled up, Myra sat on the sofa in the space between
me and the edge of the sofa. I could not be
gracious. I was startled and asked her to leave, that she was
scaring me.
8. I went to a psychic for reasons other than Myra.
The psychic asked me if I knew that there was an entity in my
house. She said that Myra was concerned about me and was
trying to help me.
Also of interest: After Myra passed on, the house was sold to
a couple who intended it to be their retirement home. They
completely renovated the house, installing some expensive items that
one would not install in a house to sell. They lived briefly
in the house and then put it up for sale. After I purchased
it I had a question about the finish on the hardwood floors and the new
roof. I called the couple. The wife answered,
seemed agitated and would not answer questions. I've wondered
if they realized that Myra was present and decided to leave the house.
