| When I was 10 yrs old, my family went to visit my Grandmother. She had cancer and,
at the time, I did not know how bad off she was. The reason for the visit was for my
Dad to see his Mother before she passed away. My Grandparents lived in a three
story brick house that for a 10 yr old was spooky enough. My grandmother had an
operation that left her bed ridden downstairs. Grandma kept a very tidy house when
she was able to walk, and made sure that everything was kept in order. My Grandma's
neighbor had a son who was able to drive, so my parents ask him if he would take me
to the movie that night. Being a 10 yr old I was excited to be heading out without
parental supervision. When I got back to Grandma's house an ambulance was out in
front of the house, I got scared and ran to the front door, I was met at the door by
my father who told me Grandma died. I was heartbroken and cried like a storm. I
was the only boy, so I was Grandma's little boy. Later that night, the Doctor came
and gave my Grandpa a Shot to basically put him to sleep. At about 11pm, we were
all still awake and crying and talking in the upstairs bedrooms. Grandma had a dog,
that dog loved my Grandma and would never leave her side. We all heard her dog
start barking and scratching on the bedroom door. We all got up and my dad let the
dog out of his dads room to try and keep him quiet. The dog took off downstairs and
was sitting at the front door. We were standing upstairs and had a clear view of
the front door as it opened and closed. Her dog started to bark and wag his tail
and jump as if to greet somebody. We watched as the dog, barking still wagging his
tail started to walk up the stairs as if he was walking beside someone. The bedroom
door to my grandfathers room opened and we watched as the dog jumped up on the bed
and lied down and shut his eyes. My dad went down stairs and walked around the
house to make sure nobody had walked in. He came back upstairs and mentioned that
nobody was downstairs. Needless to say we did not get much sleep that night. The
next morning, sitting around the kitchen table my Mom & Dad with my Grandfather were
talking about what happen. My grandfather thought my Mom and dad were off their
rocker. He asked me what I saw, and not knowing what my mom and dad said yet told
him. By then Grandpa probably thought we were all a little crazy. He sat a moment
and started to smile, he said then Grandma was home and wanted to make sure that the
upstairs was clean and neat. Now Grandma was bed ridden downstairs and always
worried that the upstairs was not clean. She always asked if the upstairs was clean
and that everything was put away. After that day, I asked if I could go to my
aunt's house because I was scared of the house and the possibly of ghost. I never
slept in that house again. A few years later, my dad and I talked about that night.
He was always the tough guy, former Marine, not really afraid of too much. He told
me that when he went downstairs that night, he swore he saw Grandma and she told him
everything was going to be alright. He remembered the night as same as my mom,
sister and I. To this day, I will remember that night. Bill |
